Winter '24-'25 is HERE!
Another day, another season is upon us. With winter actually here a few quick reminders about the Park and the Skate Park.
In particular do NOT apply any de-icer of any kind to the skating surfaces. De-icing products (especially salt) will destroy
the surface finish of the concrete in very short order.
While the park is open during the winter months, Missoula County will not be doing any regular plowing. They will not plow the park itself at all, and will only maybe plow the parking area in the unlikely event they have extra man hours for plow drivers. County’s priority is main access roads, school bus routes, and only after that secondary access. That said, one of the park working group volunteers, with the county’s permission, will clear the parking area with their tractor when and as they can, but the county also does not generally plow all the way to the end of Silver Street so access can still be challenging. From what we (The Working Group) understand, the access on Stitt is not planned on being maintained or plowed at all this season.
As of today (Monday, January 6th, 2025) the parking area is cleared, the access down Silver to the parking are is snow covered but passable.
It’s turned into a winter wonderland!
