2025 Clinton After School Skate camp!

Another awesome two weeks of Skate Camp happened in April/May this year! I didn’t get any pictures of the first week, but here’s a couple from the ones I took on the second week!

Winter '24-'25 is HERE!

Another day, another season is upon us. With winter actually here a few quick reminders about the Park and the Skate Park. In particular do NOT apply any de-icer of any kind to the skating surfaces. De-icing products (especially salt) will destroy the surface finish of the concrete in very short order. While the park is open during the winter months, Missoula County will not be doing any regular plowing. They will not plow the park itself at all, and will only maybe plow the parking area in the unlikely event they have extra man hours for plow drivers.

A spooky update!

Spring sprung, summer scorched, and fall is now upon us. The working group continues to meet regulary, and a little while back, a number of volunteers came out and (finally!!) finished staining the jack leg fence that establishes a vehicle barrier for the park. There are more grant applications out to fund park improvements, the county along with volunteers have been maintaining the grass. We greatly appreciate all of the park users helping keep our park clean by picking up their own garbage, and others!

Successful Grand Opening!

A HUGE THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO CAME OUT! What a great day! The park was extremely busy all day with people skateboarding, scootering (is that how you say it?!), and enjoying the beautiful day! On June 1st 2024, we had our Skate Park Grand Opening event. Local supporting organizations came out including Clinton Rural Fire, all four members of the Clinton Community Council, James Thomasson from the Clinton School Board of Trustees, Missoula County Commissioner Josh Slotnick, Girls On Shred, Blackfoot Communications, and more!

First After School Skate Camp In The Books!

What a great success! Twelve total kids from Clinton Elementary School were able to participate in three days of skateboarding basics. Over the three days every single student dramatically improved. Each one getting one on one time throughout the two hour sessions by the instructors, Randy and Thane! Day one! Something like half of the students had never been on a skateboard until the first day of the Skate Camp.

June 1st Grand Opening!

While the Skate Park has been open since the concrete was finished, we weren’t able to schedule a Grand Opening event until June 1st. So come down and enjoy some time skating! Maybe grab a bite to eat, and maybe meet a special guest! Come on down, Saturday, June 1st, 11AM! 2024 Clinton After School Skate camp!

The ASP skate camp will be run with Missoula City Parks and Recreation department, and available only to currently enrolled Clinton Elementary students in 2nd-8th grade. The Skate Camp will be offered for two three day sessions of about 13 students in March, on the 6th-8th and the 13th-15th with afternoon times matching the Clinton ASP times. The Skate Camp is being offered as a program outside of ASP, and is being funded through donations/sponsorship secured by the efforts of the Clinton Community Park Working Group (Thank you Jane!

Welcome to 2024!

While we’ve been very quiet on social media and the web site here, the Park Working Group has been busy over winter! Today it is lazily snowing outside as I write this. The Park Working Group has been keeping regular monthly meetings with Missoula County PTOL all winter, and we’re all excited for Spring and Summer! Starting a recreation program from scratch isn’t easy. While this year we only have the Skatepark itself we want to get the wheels rolling, both figuratively and literally.
